Cystitis is called Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an inflammation of the bladder and while cystitis in men can be caused by the transfer of bacteria from the back passage to the urethra.

WHAT IS Cytitis?

Cystitis are among the most common bacterial infections in adults and may involve the lower or upper urinary tract or both. Asymptomatic bacteriuria refers to considerable bacteriuria in a woman with no symptoms. When the infection is limited to the lower urinary tract and occurs with symptoms of dysuria and frequent and urgent urination and, occasionally, suprapubic tenderness, it is termed cystitis. Acute pyelonephritis is defined as an infection of the renal parenchyma and pelvicalyceal system accompanied by significant bacteriuria, usually occurring with fever and flank pain. Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) with the same organism after adequate therapy is termed a relapse. Reinfection is a recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) caused by bacteria previously isolated after treatment and a negative intervening urine culture result or a recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) caused by a second isolate.

SYMPTOMS OF Cystitis

Some people don’t have any symptoms with a Cystitis which usually entails inflammation of the bladder (cystitis) and can also involve an infection of the lower or upper urinary tract, and in more serious cases the kidneys.

  The symptoms include:

Cloudy urine with a strong odor

    Frequent urge to urinate

A slow urine stream or urine leakage

Pain in the central lower part of the abdomen

    Painful urination

    A sudden need to urinate

    Blood in urine

    Inability to start urinating

CAUSES OF Cystitis

Cystitis is caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli), which is naturally present in your body. The bacterium gets into the urinary tract through the urethra. The urethra is the tube that drains urine from your bladder through your penis. Urinary Tract Infections in men are more common with older age. One reason is that older men are more likely to develop noncancerous enlargement of their prostate gland, called benign prostatic hyperplasia. The prostate wraps around the neck of the bladder, where the urethra connects to the bladder.

Other factors that can put you at greater risk for Cystitis include the following:

    Being immobile for long periods

    Not drinking enough fluids

    Recent urinary tract surgery

    Diabetes

    Being uncircumcised

    Fecal incontinence

Engaging in anal intercourse, which exposes the urethra to more bacteria
