What to do if I have Candida Vaginitis?

Published at : 13-11-2019 View : 7747

Candida Vaginitis is an infection caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) and it normally lives inside the body (in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina) and on the skin without causing any problems.

Symptoms of Candida Vaginitis

   Vagina itchiness

   Irritation

   Abnormal discharge

   Pain during sex intrcourse

   Pain when urinating

Most candida vaginitis is mild, some women will develop severe infections involving redness, swelling, and cracks in the wall of the vagina.

Causes of Candida Vaginitis

Candida Vaginitis occur once new yeast is introduced into the vaginal area, or once there's an increase within the amount of yeast already present within the vagina relative to the amount of normal microorganism. As an example, once the normal, protecting microorganism is eradicated (taken to treat a urinary tract, respiratory, or different types of infection) or by immunosuppressive medicine, the yeast will multiply, invade tissues, and cause irritation of the liner of the vagina (vaginitis).

Other conditions that will predispose women to develop candida vaginitis infections include:

   Diabetes,

   Pregnancy

   Taking oral contraceptives

It may also occur as a result of injury to the inner vagina, like once chemotherapy. Also, women with suppressed immune systems develop vaginal yeast infections more often than women with normal immunity.

Treatment for Candida Vaginitis

It is common for most women to have Candida Vaginitis at least once in their life, and it is rarely dangerous. Not having sex and avoiding vaginal products containing potential irritants for several days after diagnosis may also speed up recovery.

If a woman is pregnant, she should make sure her doctor knows, because Candida Vaginitis can affect the fetus and because some treatment options may not be suitable.

The treatment needed depends on the type of vaginitis a woman has and some women try to treat symptoms on their own rather than see a doctor, but an exam and lab tests are needed to learn the specific type of vaginitis. Although Candida Vaginitis treatments can be purchased over the counter, women should see a health care provider confirm the cause of vaginal symptoms.
